Some Questions You May Have
Who makes The Romance of Eldritch Aeons?
I, Kismet Rose, and my husband Alkius have teamed up for this venture. I've made other tabletop gaming websites for over twenty years; you can learn more about me and what I've made before here. Alkius has contributed ideas to articles on my other sites before but here, he's doing even more. We started and have developed this together through conversations. He took many ideas from our talks and ran with them, crafting much on his own (all the better to surprise me during games), Then he wrote rough drafts from his GM notes for this site. From there, I've done the site's layout and maintenance and revised the drafts. I'll also be adding my own ideas and articles as time permits.
Alkius is a former stage actor who began worldbuilding on his own after his stepdad gave him some AD & D books in 1991. He started playing and running TTRPGs with Vampire: the Masquerade in 1994. A year later, he became my first Storyteller and introduced me to tabletop roleplaying games, as well. Though we took a break from playing together for several years after high school, we found our way back, first through play by email and then live, once we moved in together.
What is this site for?
TRoEA is a free reference and reading site for games and creative projects, open to the gaming and creating communities. It began as a tabletop roleplaying game project for our home games but is flexible enough to use elsewise. If you like something presented here that we've made, you can use it in your own works via the terms at the bottom of each page. This site shows our take on the Mythos, seasoned by our own tastes, so it also offers new Mythos material to read.
How is TRoEA made?
We aim for everything here to be the work of human hands and minds. Alkius writes drafts and I edit them with my magic language powers (that is to say, I have a Master's degree in English). We occasionally take spelling and grammar suggestions for individual words from the in-app spelling and grammar checker, as we've done for decades; nothing rewrites sentences for us. We do not use LLM-based apps to generate ideas, organization, coding, or content. I use an old-school HTML editor to write these pages and use human-made resources for snippets of code when I need them. I search hard for human-made visual art to use here, as well.
How can you help?
It hasn't been easy to find the kind of free visual art that reflects the tone of our project and neither of us are able to make it. If you know of any art that reflects the things we write about here (or make it yourself and wouldn't mind giving us permission to use it), please let us know.
You can also support our efforts on ko-fi. There are no ads or paid content here, and we may be able to commission original art or purchase stock art in the future with the funds.
If you encounter an error of some kind, kindly let me know and I'll do my best to fix it.
And of course, sharing the site with others is always appreciated.
